About us and our family
Catherine grew up in Melbourne in the state of Victoria
(in Australia). She has always had a passion for languages and
spent time on exchange in Germany, and has lived in Japan. She is a
qualified German and Japanese teacher and has worked in Marketing
for Wurth - one of the world's largest privately held
companies.
Jason was born in a country town called Mildura in the state of
Victoria. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer
Technology. Jason has spent most of his life in IT & Management
consulting and was a Managing Director of SMS Management &
Technology (ASX:SMX), an ASX200 publicly listed company prior to
founding TheBestAupair. Jason is also a member of the Australian
Institute of Company Directors, and provides advisory services to
companies in the ICT sector.
Our children are Jack, Alex Loren and Sam. Jack loves playing
Basketball, Judo, Soccer and (unfortunately) the xbox... a lot....
Alex loves Gymnastics and Acrobatics and watching music on YouTube.
Sam loves Judo, Gymnastics, Tennis and his extensive toy car
collection...
Jason worked for SMS Management & Technology for over six
years, and during this time travelled on average 3-4 days a week
around in Australia and Asia. With three small children, a busy
life, and a husband who was only really home on weekends, Cath
wanted to find some extra help at home.
As she had spent a lot of time in Germany where au pairs have
historically been more common, Cath raised the idea with the family
and we decided to give it a try. From our first au pair
(Katharina), we have never looked back. The only issue that we
found with having an au pair was the extensive time that it took to
find, contact, shortlist, interview and select an au pair. Using
other websites, we found that we had to contact dozens of au pairs
until we found an au pair who was a match for our job duties and
personality requirements and vice versa.
